With its tender and measured sway, “Brothers” stands in stark contrast to Memorial Ten Count’s kinetic first offering, “Conduit,” exchanging agitated protest for a beautiful and humble honesty. “It can never be a measured move / I won’t play too much for you / I can hand you the moon,” McKiel sings quietly. Decisive filtered guitar slides and chromatic breaks unravel around the lyrics, a shining testament to the intense chemistry of McKiel’s backing band: lead guitarist Jay Crocker (of experimental instrumental group Joyfultalk), bassist Sean Dicey (also of Joyfultalk), and drummer Aaron Mangle (of Cousins).
The beautiful accompanying video was shot by filmmaker Colin Medley in McKiel’s childhood hometown of Amherst, NS and Sackville, NB where he currently resides. Jon McKiel’s grandmother becomes “Josephine, the river queen,” a figure of faded romance among the low buildings and grey landscapes of an Atlantic winter in a small industrial town. It ends with an image of small transcendence as McKiel skates lightly across a frozen pond.
Jon McKiel has announced a series of Eastern Canadian tour dates in support of Memorial Ten Count after its March 10th release.

No, I couldn’t get to sleep before 3 am (local time) but I worded that comment badly (I would apologize but I keep being told, by Canadians, that I do that too much).
I have two smart alarms* set on my watch, the first is set for 9 am Monday to Friday and the backup is as 11 am seven days a week but I am turning my first alarm off far too often these days so I might make the second one weekends only.
*My pebble smart watch tracks my sleep and can wake me anywhere up to 30 minutes early of I am not in deep sleep.
I think I should give the English Language a miss taday
Some days, the words just don’t work. Otherwise known as a day that ends in Y for me.
It usually only affects me during weeks with a Monday in them
