Playlist Friday this week has not just one but two playlists. A Canadian St Patrick’s Day playlist to celebrate the day and an update on Searchlight playlist.

CBC Searchlight is on Round 3 and voting ends today, Friday, March 17, at 2:59 p.m. ET, for this round. So get your votes in while you can! There are three (3) Round 4 positions available to be awarded based on the Searchlight Judging Panel decision and one (1) Round 4 position available for the Round 3 Video with the most votes overall, for a total of four (4) Round 4 positions.

The three (3) Round 3 Videos with the highest scores from the Searchlight Industry Judging Panel, and the one (1) Round 3 Video with the most public votes will be the winners of the National Semi-Finals and will advance to the Round 4 :National Contest.

Their Video will posted for the National Finals on the Website (the “Finalist Video”) and will be subject to public voting from Tuesday, March 21 at 3:00 p.m. ET to Friday, April 7, 2:59 p.m. ET (the “Round 4 Voting Period”).

Meet the Searchlight top 25.

The CBC Searchlight 2017 Round 3 playlist has my picks that made it through from Round 2.

The other playlist has songs by Canadian artists that had some connection to St Patrick’s Day in some way in my mind. Sometimes it is a bit of a stretch like the colour green or Scottish instead of Irish. Then there are some whiskey songs which led to a Rum and Tequila song just because. There are some celtic bands that have been around for awhile on there and a few more recent artists as well. I hope you have fun with it and enjoy!

St Patrick’s Day is a day celebrating the life of the missionary St Patrick, who is famed for playing such a integral part in converting the inhabitants of Ireland to Christianity. Now, his feast day is an opportunity to celebrate Irish culture all over the world, including the longest-running Saint Patrick’s Day parades in North America taking place in Montréal, and the St Patrick’s Day Parade in Vancouver, recognized as one of North America’s Top 10 Saint Patrick’s Day Parades. There are parades going on in other cities as well such as Edmonton and Halifax.

Another way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day is with music. A fun lively celtic band would be my preference. Are you with me?

HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY!!!
