The playlist this week is in honour of Remembrance Day.  It is important to honour and remember those that have fought and those that have fallen to give us the freedom and peace we have today. It is important to remember and be thankful. We are doing it OurBasement style with Canadian Indie Music that somehow related to Remembrance Day or war or peace or whatever other connection that formed in my mind. Enjoy the playlist but don’t forget to pause for a moment to pay your respect.

In Flanders Fields by John McCrae  (one of a couple versions)

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead.   Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
