Lavender Child’s latest single, Happy Illusions, is said to have been inspired by her attending a weekend at an outdoor music festival. “The environment alone was stunning; lush forests with enchanting art installations throughout the trails. The unsettling ambivalence of the place came from the juxtaposition between the people and the peaceful surroundings. My head spun from the irony both in relationships to nature and each other. I heard so many people say that they loved one another, which conceptually was beautiful, but realistically had me questioning the authenticity of the community.”
Toronto director Dylan Mitro came up with the video conceptualized, “Happy Illusions, is a song about the experience of love and the human connection to nature and whether that connection can be genuine when under the influence.”
The track comes from her upcoming album, Reflections, which revolves around those moments of self-reflection where you ask yourself, how am I contributing to this world? How are my actions influencing the environment and the people around me?

Actually, that’s just a mistaken impression. Oh, it’s easy to think so, Qc being “more different” from, well, everybody else on the continent, and mostly the surrounding Anglos States & Provinces. But the reality is that Quebecers are probably among the more contented people in the Northern part of the continent (prob. along w. BCers) — francophones tend to enjoy life (by the usual measures) more than the rest of the country. More of a latin-type philosophy of life? For instance, there used to be great gnashing of teeth, etc., about separation and having rights respected, but twice it failed (skin of teeth in one case, yes).
In addition, there is the I think indisputable fact that, as with France, Québec isn’t shy to hold different positions than many other States, nor about expressing these, sometimes in terms that are incisive. Hence perhaps the impression of “often annoyed”.

Hello hello! As the daughter of a Quebecker (sp?), can I be outraged? Actually I probably can’t, my dad was a Greek-Anglophone in Montreal.
janet: it used to be Quebecker, now it’s Quebecer* — I suppose someone sorta said ‘why do we need that k, anyway? It’s a hard c at the end of Québec, no?
*That said, a lot of more attuned people will probably use Quebecois, which is more or less the French language word.
janet, also, re your dad: you don’t have to be “Québécois pure laine” — franco, old family Qc — to be a Quebecois or Quebecker.
On The Debaters today (CBC R1), the second debate was entitled “Are Extroverts Better Than Introverts?” (or vice-versa, doesn’t matter). The fun part was that they had an extrovert defend the side of introverts, and a decidedly introvert argue for extroverts.

It’s hilarious. There are two debates in a ‘half-hour’, often involving comics; and the host is very funny, and very punny.
