Investing in Indigenous Language Through Radio

WILLIAMS LAKE, BC, April 23, 2018 /CNW/ – Today, the Honourable Jody Wilson-Raybould, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, on behalf of the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage, announced $180,500 in program funding to the Tŝilhqot’in National Government for its Community Radio Project. The funding is being provided under the Northern Aboriginal Broadcasting component of the Aboriginal Peoples’ Program.

A Tribe Called Red, Neko Case and Stars to headline Calgary Folk Music Festival 2018

The Calgary Folk Music Festival has revealed its 2018 lineup, featuring 70 artists from across the world, spanning wildly diverse genres.

Indie darlings The Milk Carton Kids, Alvvays, Reuben and the Dark and Neko Case will be bringing their folksy charm to the main stage, as will synth-pop purveyors Stars — celebrating their 20th anniversary this year — and Juno-winning hip hop electronic artists A Tribe Called Red.

A Toronto singer is accusing Toronto Police and the Crown of failing to investigate her sexual assault after she says investigators neglected her case for more than half a year.

Jade Naraine says she promptly reported it to police, along with evidence from a rape kit and written testimony from people she told after it happened, but her case fell through the cracks.
