One doesn’t need to speak French to understand what Cœur de pirate is saying on her new album, En cas de tempête, ce jardin sera fermé. The emotion in her voice and delicately beautiful melodies say it all. For the sake of it, though, the title translates to: “During storms, this garden will be closed” — a double meaning that serves as both caution and preservation, and represents the turbulent narrative taking place on the record.(Exclaim!)

Eamon McGrath – Tantramar
Born and raised in Edmonton, AB, singer-songwriter Eamon McGrath eventually relocated to Toronto where he’s now based. If his name rings a bell, solo work aside, it might be thanks to his guitaring in Julie & The Wrong Guys, another local act which includes Julie Doiron and Cancer Bats members Mike Peters and Jaye R. Schwarzer. Now, on June 1st, the marvellous musician is returning with yet another solo album, Tantramar. The interwebs got me, to put it that way. I need a spare part for a specific mower, called the right place, yes they have some, great. Wrote down the address.
This morning, I cycled out there, maybe 7 km or so. Turns out they moved out about 7 years ago. Stale web info! Turns out they’re about 7 km from here in exactly the opposite direction. As my car’s in the shop, it’s cycling again.
I’m keeping in better shape anyway.

anyone have some requiem music for a tree that is over a hundred.
@Morgana, there was a tree that I would pass when travelling North out of Witton Gilbert (my Mother’s partner lived there). It had been dead for as long as I could remember but had been made safe by having the branches removed and was covered in ivy. It always made me smile and I kind of loved it. But somewhere in the 1990’s, they decided to add a roundabout nearby which required the road that had run past the tree to be moved, meaning the tree had to go.
As you can tell, 20 years later, I am still not happy about it.
