Hi Our Basement,
I’m a musician from Hamilton, ON, who plays under the name Colour Film.
Since 2006, I have released four albums and toured throughout North America and Europe, sharing the stage with acts such as Serena Ryder, Great Lake Swimmers, and Whitehorse and performing at festivals including North by Northeast, Canadian Music Week, JUNOfest, and Stukafest (Netherlands).
The song was inspired by a bike ride I took with my wife and two young daughters in the countryside one evening. At one point, they were up ahead of me a little ways and I caught a glimpse of them biking with a stretch of open trail curving off into the distance in front of them. I was struck by the idea of a person you love being an open road – taking you places inside yourself, opening possibilities, and shaping your path into the future. This thought and the mental snapshot of my family stuck with me, so I wrote the song the next day. The rhythm and melody remind me of biking with them, and we shot the video on the same stretch of trail where the song was inspired.
Director, Nathan Fleet had this to say about the creation of video: “When I first heard “Open Road” my mind went to some kind of sunny road, top down, journey. Matthew introduced the concept of a bike ride on a trail and off we went! I had some film cartridges of Super 8 in my basement so when we filmed, the old camera became part of the video.”

i have been watching the odds of England winning their next game in normal time and while Swedens odds are getting smaller (more money being bet) Englands odds are getting longer (you can work that bit out)
I was thinking of putting a little money on Sweden,
A) it is me doing my little bit to “curse” them
2) If/when England are defeted I can drown my sorrows (or more likely buy a pizza)

Interesting strategy. Haha. I am pretty sure of what I am voting for but there is some go with the gut involved in the end. Long List voting is a little different than Short List voting in how I approach things. There was a little bit of strategic decision making in the first round.
