Good morning Our Basement,

For those not in the know, you’re talking to Ron the Baptist, bonafide entertainer, song and dance man, and unlicensed baptism practitioner. I’m the kind of guy who won’t break eye contact long until after it becomes uncomfortable, and I write songs in the city of Toronto for people who have a repressed desire to dance. Welcome to the party.

We’re here to talk shop about ADONIS, my debut track and first foray into the radical realm of dance rock produced by Keswick dreamboats, the Elwins’ members and JUNO nominees Feurd and Frankie Figliomeni. It’s a song about confiding in a muscular statue about being a bad boyfriend. Yeah, my Mom didn’t get it either. Over two minutes and fifty-eight seconds of bombastic bass and sentimental synths, the lyrics run the emotional gambit of lust, desire, anger, confrontation, and guilt. If you can’t find something to relate to in that, you just might be the one made of stone. With a story pulled from the supermarket trash tabloids and a palette of sounds pulled straight out my parent’s record collection, it’s unlike anything you’re listening to right now, and it’s out on streaming platforms now.

All this culminates in the release of our debut EP Sorry This Happened To You, a collection of likeminded throwback hits hitting the internet just as soon as they’re good and ready. Keep your ear to the ground and your eyes on the internet. As for what’s next for Ron, well, I guess that all depends on which way the wind is blowing. Tour? Maybe. The Ron the Baptist motion picture? If the script is right. A double album of Phil Collins covers? Only time will tell. The only thing we can be sure of is that I won’t shut up any time soon – I like the sound of my own voice too much.
