Why Release Radar Matters

At OurBasement, Release Radar isn’t just a monthly roundup—it’s a celebration of discovery. Every month, we gather the newest Canadian indie tracks, featuring artists you already know alongside emerging voices worth keeping on your radar. There’s always more great music waiting to be uncovered, and this series is our way of shining a light on the creators pushing boundaries and exploring new directions.

It’s where creativity meets community—and where listeners often find their next, “Oh wow… play that again,” moment.

This Month in OurBasement

There’s something about fall that wakes artists up across the country. This month proves it.

Saskatchewan storytellers are leaning into windswept prairie moods, while out east, dreamers are crafting lush, shimmering soundscapes. Blues wanderers, folk poets, psychedelic explorers, beat-makers, rock-leaners—everyone showed up this November. Even longtime favourites delivered surprises, shifting their sound and experimenting in ways that feel both unexpected and familiar.

You’ll hear everything from Colter Wall’s steady grit to neon-lit electronic grooves, warm soul textures, bold instrumental trips, and hip-hop tracks with real weight behind them. It’s one of those months where the playlist spans moods, genres, and provinces—yet stays rooted in that unmistakable Canadian indie spark.

That’s the magic of Release Radar: catching these songs while they’re still buzzing with that fresh, “wait… what was THAT?” energy.

Notable News: Collaboration, Legacy & Bold Projects

Dallas Good & Richard Reed Parry – The Watchtower
Richard Reed Parry (Arcade Fire) has announced plans to finish The Watchtower, the collaborative album he began with the late Dallas Good. Fans were even invited to contribute to one of the final tracks, “Not in This World.” The album is expected in late 2025 or early 2026.

Boy Golden & Cat Clyde – “Cowboy Dreams”
One of the standout pairings of late 2025, Boy Golden and Cat Clyde’s “Cowboy Dreams” blends folk warmth, indie charm, and a little outlaw flair. Released via Six Shooter Records, it features tight harmonies, twangy riffs, and lyrics that chase a mythical, persistent kind of love. The Folks Films–directed video adds a dreamy touch—horseback riding, golden light, and Western-inspired visuals. Their artistic chemistry is the real magic: Boy Golden says Clyde helped him tap into something freer and bolder, while Clyde calls the process joyful and inspiring.
