This week’s playlist is something a little different. OurBasement Signals is a collection of Canadian Indie tracks gathered from the inbox, private messages, artist submissions, and a few standout songs discovered while catching up on the Earshot charts. Some of these arrived directly from artists, some were recommended by friends and followers, and others were releases I somehow missed the first time around.
That’s one of the best things about digging through Canadian music—there is always more waiting to be found. Great songs can slip by quietly, hidden in crowded release weeks or buried in a full inbox, only to resurface later and demand your attention. This playlist is about giving some of those tracks their deserved moment.
To be honest, the inbox is still overflowing, and there are many more messages and submissions waiting for a listen. So this may become an ongoing series—a way to catch up, stay curious, and continue sharing the incredible depth of Canadian indie music being made right now. If you’ve sent something my way and I haven’t reached it yet, know it’s appreciated. Keep sending recommendations, links, and discoveries through my LinkTree or messages, and hopefully I’ll get there in time.
This edition features a wide range of sounds: heartfelt singer-songwriters, fuzzy garage rock, polished indie-pop, electronic textures, punk urgency, thoughtful hip-hop, experimental instrumentals, and everything in between. It’s exactly the kind of variety that makes Canadian indie so rewarding to explore.
Among the artists featured are Raquel Cole, Desiree Dorion ft. Burnstick, Emmett Jerome, Colin Wylie, Jef Kearns, Tommy Douglas Keenan, Jon Martin & Thrill AM, Sundayclub, Hélène Barbier, Vanille, Alix Fernz, Jesse Morrison, Elizabeth Clyde, Show Pony, Poolgirl, Missed Our Stop, Keegan Powell, The Fake Friends, The Boojums, Heaven For Real, Binoculars, Bossanova Frankenstein, 6figguh, AGE AJ, Mvjik, Patche, The Brothers, The Mbira Renaissance Band, and many more.
So let’s go exploring and see what new favourites we can uncover together.
