Hey Our Basement,

Our debut track, “I Feel Like You,” is about feeling powerless to being controlled.
In the context of a relationship, an addiction or the censorship of free speech…
It’s about awareness of one’s situation and learning to take the power back.

“I Feel Like You” is about as real and honest as it could be for the title. No matter what we’re all individually going through, there’s certainly a collective connection between humanity right now.

I played this moment over and over and over again refers to visualization or ‘mental rehearsal’ for the outcome you want to achieve after overcoming or breaking free from adversity. This line is the freedom ticket to the story.

slowride is born out of long-time collaboration and lifelong friendship. Produced by Rob Slater from Greenmount (Easy Life, Ellie Goulding and Alex Clare) and mixed by Isaac Carpenter (Awolnation, Irontom, Kadeema), it has been refreshing to break out of our standard punk rock mould and typical formula to recording. Allowing vulnerability into the process, and being fully open to all types of textures and sounds, is empowering.

The combination of social commentary and upbeat hooks allows us to dance these frustrations out, with its David and Goliath or suppression meets freedom type of vibe.

Let’s light that fire.
