The playlist this week is a new feature playlist called Artist Connections. The plan is to start with tracks from artists releasing an album and add tracks from artists connected to them in some way. That could be anything from solo projects, side projects, contributions to an album, or it may just be Spotify has them listed as “Fans Also Like”. It was a fun way to put some tracks together for a playlist.

The playlist begins with Godspeed You! Black Emperor who released G_d’s Pee AT STATE’S END! on April 2. The members of that band have played on a few other projects including Set Fire To Flames, Silver Mt. Zion, Hrsta, Black Ox Orkestar, 1-Speed Bike, Valley of The Giants, etc.

Charlotte Cardin’s album Phoenix should be out today, April 9, but I see the release has been moved to April 23. Charlotte was on a French singing competition called Le Voix and later in 2013 appeared on Garou’s album, Au milieu de ma vie, for a duet with him. In 2019, she was featured on a track on Loud’s album Tout ça pour ça. Also in 2019, Cardin and producer CRi collaborated on a cover of Daniel Bélanger’s “Fous n’importe où”. The rest of the tracks in her section are in the “Fans Also Like” area. Phoenix is Cardin’s debut album.

Born Ruffians’ album PULP, should be out April 16. Ruffian, Luke Lalonde, released The Perpetual Optimist in 2019. Then the rest of the tracks for them are more in the “Fans Also Like” variety. PULP follows JUICE, which dropped in April 2020, SQUEEZE, out last October.

Art d’Ecco’s album In Standard Definition, should be out April 23. There is another fun group of tracks by “Fans Also Like” artists for this section. In Standard Definition is his sophomore album.

Joseph Shabason’s album The Fellowship, should be out April 30. Joseph is a multi-instrumentalist from Toronto that has played on many albums including for Born Ruffians. He has played with many other artists such as DIANA, Destroyer, and The War on Drugs as well as on the albums for Shabason, Kgrovich, & Harris. The Fellowship is Shabason’s 3rd album.

There you have it. I hope you enjoy the Artist Connections presented this week.
