Hey there Our Basement,
We are Down With Space, a Montreal-based indie pop band comprised of vocalist/guitarist Rob Helsten and drummer Steve Dumas. As a partnership between an English speaker (Helsten) and a French speaker (Dumas), we have found understanding through music when language can’t communicate what we are trying to say.
“We Were Strangers” is about enjoying the moment when it feels right, even if you know it’s doomed to fail eventually.
This is a song that encourages you to move your feet, with a driving bassline to carry you forward. It’s our way of acknowledging the feeling of nostalgia for something that almost happened in our lives but was never meant to be.
