Hey there Our Basement,

I had the first line, I’m an agent of emotion, in this soft commotion, kicking around for weeks. I knew as soon as I put it to chords that I’d finish “Age of Emotion” by the end of the day, and that’s exactly what happened. This lyric is also where the title of my sophomore album comes from, Soft Commotion. Out now via Elephants on Parade Records!

Mixed by UK luminary Luke Potashnick, “Age of Emotion” pokes fun at itself, but at the same time it’s a sincere song about our shared human experience and the distance and isolation we all face. It’s about alienation and loneliness, but ultimately hope too.

My aim is to follow a song wherever it goes. Sometimes I chase it, but oftentimes it comes quickly. It’s a little like sculpting, you start with a block and slowly chip away at it.

I hope you get lost in its sonic hold.
