Hello Our Basement,
My name is Casey Møøn and I’m a genre-defying multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and half of the production duo Zookids. Having handled production for artists such as Young Thug, Gunna and Boslen, writing for independent artists in the indie-pop world, and having played in a slew of rock bands over the years, my style has absorbed an eclectic array of influences.
Over the course of 2022, I plan to release my trilogy of EPs: Fountains, Mirrors and Ashes. Each project varies in genre and draws thematic influence from a different film or TV series. Listened to sequentially, the projects tell a story about growing up, love and loss.
The EP trilogy feels like a series of collages or vignettes. The songs aren’t necessarily about specific events – they’re mostly storytelling through imagery, soundscapes and references. The first in the trilogy, the Fountains EP, is about childhood, so most of the songs evoke feelings I felt as a kid: wonder, alienation, and love. I was really inspired by the movie Before Sunrise and the book A Separate Peace when I was making it, so there are some references to those in there.
