Hey Our Basement,

I was reading a book by the same name as my new single, Deepfakes by Nina Schick, which got me thinking about this AI technology… but also the veil of capitalism that we already exist under… and how this particular corner of the near future relates to the mega-marathon of consumption & distorted nature of our current priorities.

From my understanding, the fundamental anxiety of tech is that we will have no way to decipher between the real and the unreal in the digital domain. And adjacent, being an economic cog in this era can feel like a burden to us, but also like we are burdening something. It can all make someone easily feel replaceable, invisible, and yet responsible.

“Deepfakes” is from Freehand, my album out August 5th, which continues themes of technology, as well exploring adventure, self-worth & love with mild nods to worldly trepidation.

Thanks for taking the time to listen!
