Hey Our Basement,

“Fumes” is a sigh of exasperation.
“Fumes” is realizing your all is not enough.
“Fumes” is having the door shut in your face and having to start again.
“Fumes” is forcing a smile when all you want to do is cry.
“Fumes” is like trying to swim through jello.

“Fumes” was recorded in England on the Isle of Wight at Chale Abbey Studios.
The track is built around that iconic 70’s, John Lennon drum sound. The melodic bass and heavy drums balance out the simplistic quality of the lyrics. At its heart, “Fumes” is reminiscent of a 60’s bubblegum pop tune – only with a much darker, self-reflective tone.

How many balls can you keep up in the air before you start feeling like a clown?
How thin can you spread yourself before you simply disappear?
Sometimes your best intentions are the worst things for you.
Was it curiosity or generosity that killed the cat? Asking for a friend (the friend is me).
