Yesterday not only saw the release of the Polaris long list (thank you DBS) it was also the day that online release of Marie Clements’ musical documentary, The Road Forward, on the nfb’s own streaming platform.

Premiering at Hot Docs Documentary Film Festival in Toronto during 2017 before going on to receive awards at Edmonton’s Dreamspeakers International Film Festival and San Francisco’s American Indian Film Festival the same year.

The Road Forward was shot in Richmond/Steveston, Delta, Maple Ridge, Fort Langley, West Vancouver, Vancouver and Prince George, B.C.

Musical performers include Richard E. Brown, Ronnie Dean Harris, Shakti Hayes, Jennifer Kreisberg, Jeremy James Lavallee, Cheri Maracle, Shamantsut/Amanda Nahanee, Delhia Nahanee, Marissa Nahanee, Latash-Maurice Nahanee, Corey Payette, Murray Porter, Michelle St. John, Russell Wallace and, Wayne Lavallee. With the last artists film opening song, Indian Man, being released as a single in 2018 to end up becoming a resident of the Indigenous Music Countdown charts for about half a year, reaching No. 2.
