1)Would you like to introduce yourself?
Hello! My name is Letters From Pluto and I’m a pop artist that’s obsessed with space and all things sci-fi! Nice to meet you! 🙂

2)When and why did you start playing?
I started playing music when I was 5 years old! I first started with the piano, then graduated to the flute in junior high and high school, and then eventually started singing! I sort of fell into singing by accident, when I was volunteered to sing in school – and afterwards I realized I was obsessed with it! It was an easy transition, since I had so much music under my belt already. Kinda funny how things work out sometimes!
Shortly after that I started writing my own music and things progressed from there! But I’ve always been involved in music and have had a love of it from a young age.

3)What is your favourite part about this line of work? Your least favourite? Why?
My absolute favourite part of being in music is performing. It’s hard to describe the feeling, other than being incredibly freeing. It’s like tons of adrenaline pumping through your veins, while flying. Nothing else in the world is quite like it. I also love the creative process of writing new songs and content. So many things I love about this industry.
As for what I don’t like – the rejection can be very difficult sometimes. And as an artist you will face TONS of rejection. It’s important to be able to motivate yourself when times get tough.

4)Is there a hidden meaning in Letters From Pluto?
My name is a big part of who I am as a person and artist. I’ve always been obsessed with space, and as a child I desperately wanted to be an astronaut. One day I realized that dream wouldn’t happen, and when I decided to chase my music dream, I wanted to find a way to fuse my love of space with my love of music. And while trying to choose a name for myself, I was thinking about how Pluto was that poor forgotten ex-planet on the edge of our solar system and how it just wanted to be loved, like it was sending us letters. Hence, Letters From Pluto was born!

5)How do you handle mistakes during a performance?
Keep moving forward! What I’ve realized is – if you don’t make a big deal out of it, the audience won’t either. Most of the time the audience doesn’t notice small mistakes, but if you bring attention to it, you bet they will! I’ve hit myself in the face with my microphone before hahah and believe me, it hurt! But nobody noticed, they just thought there was a weird noise and that’s all. The best example I can think of, is Michael Buble once hit himself so hard on the mouth that he knocked a tooth out, and he just carried on – and NOBODY realized! Also, another reason you have to let tiny mistakes go – if you give them too much energy, they can destroy the rest of your performance. Forget about it, move on, and give the best show you possibly can!

6)Which of your tracks would you recommend for any new listeners?
All of them! haha kidding. I’d recommend my newest single, “Right To Know”, just released! If you’re looking for something a bit more upbeat as well, I recommend “Stop and Stare”! They all have different vibes to them depending on what you want! If you need something strong and anthemic, “Warriors” is a good choice too! Feeling upset? “Knock You Out” or “On Fire”. Feeling kind of dreamy? “Cold Right Now”.

7)If you were given the power to do so, which overused interview question would you have banned?
That’s an interesting question! I’ve luckily been asked some really deep questions about my love of space and music and haven’t gotten bored of them yet! But I think looking from the outside at some of the things celebrities get asked, people seem to always ask them very personal questions about their love lives and family issues and it always makes people uncomfortable- I think I would probably ban that.

8)And, most impotently, what is your favourite type of cookie?
Sadly I’m gluten free!! Not by choice, believe me! So now I’m a fan of macarons – since they’re naturally gluten free and also delicious 🙂
But if you find a good gluten free cookie, I’m always down to try!
