“I Love That Sound” continues the theme of my prior single, “Our River,” – a reflection of this rural dream I have for my own life from my thirteen-song record, Love Valley, coming October 9.
I wanted to write about what I want to see, as opposed to what’s already been.
I love the simple descriptive details in the song – like the intimate visual of a loved one’s clothing falling to the ground. The details bring the listener into the story.
Produced with Josh Rob Gwilliam, we brought in Lyle Molzan on drums and Brett Resnik (Kacey Musgraves) on pedal steel.
The touch of female vocals by Katie Stanton and Jessica Ritchie, offers a different perspective and really opens up the song making room for anyone in the narrative.

The Polaris Short List looks pretty good but I am sad that Andy Shauf, Badge Epoque Ensemble and Whoop-Szo aren’t on there.
